"The Surgeon" Dena has been honing her skills for 21 years. Yes, more than half her life has consisted of washing sheets every night and manipulating bodies every day. In that time, Dena has become a true master of her craft & created a style of bodywork that stands out from the crowd. Dena goes to the places other massage therapists don't dare venture ... intuitively finding her way to the root of the issue, pulling (lots of pulling) the tight fascia/connective tissue away from the bone, almost like ringing the muscles out and putting them back into place > restoring blood flow, restoring posture. This is not simply massage; this is true treatment bodywork. If you're looking for someone who addresses and fully resolves the areas that are normally skimmed over, book with Dena. Everyone at Applied Pressure is superb, but Dena is the most treatment-oriented & precise on the team: it's like having surgery, without the scalpel. Now that being said, Dena brings a great deal of finesse to her sessions as well, intuitively sensing where your threshold for pain lies without needing to ask, so, this will feel good:
That *hurts so good* kind of good.
That *deep relief you've been searching for* kind of good.
That *you're getting your money's worth* kind of good.
A session with Dena is like nothing else. Enjoy!
"The Intuitive" Jess brings a God-given gift for connection and healing to her clinical skills at Applied Pressure. She is that ideal, rare mix of intuition and clinical bodywork knowledge. Everyone at Applied Pressure is deep, Jess is no exception, although what differentiates Jess is she uses a broader stoke to get in deeply (no pokey deep) and her touch is brimming with finesse. She is drawn to working with folks of all types even those amidst/post cancer treatment needing more lymph focus and a more compassionate approach. If you truly need to *receive*. If you are worn out from giving yourself away all day: Come see Jess. She will restore you. We bet you'll be rebooking with her again, again, and again...

"Bear Hug" Nick came to us with a knack for swedish relaxation + experience working with college and professional athletes. We call him Bear Hug because making sure clients feel especially cared for on the table is his M.O. He is strong and athletic, so, having power behind his flowy style is what takes his massage to the next level. Nick has grown in leaps and bounds since apprenticing with Dena and officially has her stamp of approval for being able to administer true treatment (TX) bodywork with notable stand-out work in the psoas, streching of the hips & myofascial skin pulling throughout the torso in a way that opens up the spine and shoulders in an all encompassing, feel good way. Disclaimer: this is the type of session that may elicit drooling + loss of consciousness. A session with Nick is powerful, but he makes it feel good by paying homage to his Swedish roots with a flowy rhythm maintained throughout. He is a good fit for clients of all sizes and he is the best fit on the team for olympic lifters/cross fit types due to his use of a broader stroke and larger hand size. Give Nick a try... his style truly is a Bear Hug experience!

"Quiet Ninja" Hailing from small town Missouri, Miranda is quiet-natured and humble. Blessed with the "gift of touch", her hands are intuitive & VERY strong. Her education fortifies her with a thorough understanding of anatomy and kinesiology. During her interview massage Dena actually exclaimed, "Wow! we are off to a great start!". Miranda has been a pleasure to train. She asks all the right questions and then applies what she just learned in her next deliberate move. One of our long time regulars nicknamed her "Quiet Ninja" and that stuck. She is one of those therapists that allows you to sink deeply into the session without the disturbance unwanted conversation. Her fingers are like katanas: precise and on-point. Wrapping up 9 months apprenticing under Dena, her barefoot bodywork is feeling divine! Tying it all together to be a masterpiece of a session. We invite you to book with Miranda to experience her natural talent + be part of her evolution as she keeps growing with our team!

"The Nurturer" Some people have that touch that makes you melt. Nurturing without even trying. Patty has that gift. Not only that, she was a physical therapy assistant for 20 years before becoming a massage therapist. So she understands kinesiology and dysfunction on a clinical level. Why would a PTA become a bodyworker, you ask? Patty dreamed of offering something more impactful, with same day results, for her clients and she felt that hands on bodywork + apprenticing under Dena was how to best achieve that. Patty is a fantastic addition to the team; with all the clinical experience she brings, she even teaches us a thing or two. We invite you to come relax under the nurturing touch of a natural born healer who can also move the needle on your chronic pain.
Important to note: Although all we do is DEEP @ Applied Pressure, Patty is less intense than the rest of the team as she is still learning how to implement more Tx (treatment) work.

"A Gentle Approach" Lisa came to us with 2 decades of clinical myofascial release experience under her belt. Seeking out leaders in the field to apprentice under, becoming a master of MFR along the way. Growth and transformation (of herself and her clients) is her passion. She tells clients, "I'm here for the transformation. I don't care where we start, it's where we are going." Lisa intended to learn Applied Pressure from Dena when interviewing, but she has such a special gift of administering a much more gentle and bare bones classical Myofascial release that Dena didn't want to tamper with her skillset. Rather adding her to the team "as is." A great complement to what we already do. A session with Lisa is *GENTLE* in comparison to Applied Pressure bodywork. But gentle can be mighty. And sometimes a gentle, slow, focused, super intuitive approach is just what the nervous system needs. It's been great having her on the team to remind us of where our roots come from. Myofascial release is part of Applied Pressure, but we have definitely branched off from there. Therefore, Lisa keeps us grounded. Nameste

"Ms. Smiley" Welp, the universe hooked us up yet again. When Karen packed up her life in North Carolina, headed for the Twin Cities and chose Applied Pressure as her professional home, we knew we’d been blessed with another incredible practitioner. You will rarely see her without a genuine smile on her face. It is an honor to have her honing her craft with us. True to her nickname, she brings an unshakeable, bright positivity into the studio that rubs off on everyone around her - clients and fellow bodyworkers alike.
But don't let the sunny demeanor fool you. When Karen steps up to the table, she gets down to business. Her work is soothingly impactful. She possesses strong, connected, and stable hands. And she locks into this beautiful, intuitive flow-state once she finds her rhythm.
Right now, her bodywork using her hands [including our signature Myofascial Release infused Deep Tissue] is already awesome and she’s actively mastering how to use her feet fluidly to match that same level of thorough consistency. We invite you to book a session with Karen @ 50% off for the month of June to experience her unique flow state for yourself + support her growth into a full fledged Applied Pressure Bodyworker. We thank you for your support!
